What Faith Gets You

Re: Hebrews 11 (Paul on Faith)

. . .

All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own.
Hebrews 11:13-14 (NIV)

(To understand this blog, the whole chapter needs to be read, not just the verses I list here.

If you read through the Bible, true faith is almost always accompanied by a severe trial, and in most cases the person being tried loses most of what they have besides their faith in God.

There is no promise that faith brings (earthly) rewards in our human standard of time. The evidence in the Bible shows quite the opposite, that Faith isn't about immediate earthly rewards, and any expectation of earthly rewards is evidence of a lack of faith.

Fox's Book of Martyrs Discusses the best known accounts of Faith in the lineage of American History. This is faith in action.
